About the Journal
EDITORIAL POLICY
TEORÍA Y PRAXIS SOCIAL UN ANÁLISIS CRÍTICO DE LA SOCIEDAD is a peer-reviewed, open-access electronic journal published by the Centro de Estudios Superiores en Ciencias Jurídicas y Criminológicas (CECSIJUC). Its primary aim is to disseminate original scholarly research that examines the intersection between law and the social sciences, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to the analysis of socio-legal phenomena.
The journal is published on a semiannual basis and seeks to serve as a forum for critical analysis and academic dialogue among professional, research, and student communities engaged in the thematic areas addressed by the journal.
The journal accepts only original and unpublished manuscripts written in Spanish. Submissions that have been previously published or are under simultaneous consideration by another journal will not be accepted. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated through a peer-review process.
EDITORIAL AND PEER-REVIEW PROCESS
TEORÍA Y PRAXIS SOCIAL UN ANÁLISIS CRÍTICO DE LA SOCIEDAD follows the stages outlined below for the editorial management and evaluation of its contents:
Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted via email to investigacion.nacional@cescijuc.edu.mx.
Each submission must include the manuscript prepared in accordance with the Guidelines for Authors and a signed Declaration of Originality by all authors.
Submissions must be made exclusively by the corresponding author, who will act as the official point of contact throughout the editorial process. The submission email must clearly indicate the section to which the manuscript is being submitted: research article, essay, or book review.
Technical Review
The editorial team conducts an initial technical review to verify compliance with the journal’s submission guidelines regarding format, length, and bibliographic standards. If inconsistencies are identified, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision. Once this stage has been successfully completed, the manuscript will be assigned an identification number, and receipt will be formally acknowledged to the corresponding author.
Plagiarism Detection and Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies
Following the technical review, manuscripts are analyzed using plagiarism-detection software to ensure compliance with ethical standards concerning the use and proper acknowledgment of sources. If the similarity report indicates a coincidence rate exceeding 30%, the corresponding author will be notified and required to make the necessary revisions.
In addition, manuscripts undergo a review process to identify the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. If such use is detected, authors must disclose how these tools were employed in the preparation of the manuscript.
The journal permits the use of artificial intelligence tools exclusively for purposes of language editing, grammar correction, or formatting, provided that such use does not compromise the originality, scholarly content, or intellectual authorship of the manuscript. Any other use of AI technologies will result in the automatic rejection of the submission.
Once the manuscript meets the originality requirements, it may proceed to the subsequent stage of evaluation.
Editorial Committee Review
The Editorial Committee assesses the thematic relevance, scholarly merit, and originality of submitted manuscripts. In the case of research articles and essays, external reviewers are proposed for peer evaluation. For book reviews, where applicable, the Committee may issue editorial suggestions, and the author will be granted 15 calendar days to implement the requested revisions. Manuscripts approved at this stage proceed to peer review.
Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review system, under which neither authors nor reviewers are aware of each other’s identities. Upon approval by the Editorial Committee, the Editor-in-Chief appoints two subject-matter specialists to conduct an anonymous evaluation of the manuscript.
Based on their assessments, reviewers may issue one of the following decisions:
- Accepted without revisions
- Accepted with minor revisions
- Accepted with major revisions
- Rejected
In cases of significant divergence between reviewers’ reports, a third reviewer will be appointed. Once academic approval has been obtained, the manuscript advances to the next stage.
Communication of Review Decisions and Revisions
The Editor-in-Chief and the Editor review the evaluation reports and communicate the decision to the corresponding author, who will have 15 calendar days to submit a revised version addressing the reviewers’ comments. If the revisions are deemed satisfactory, the manuscript will be approved at this stage and the rights transfer process will be initiated.
Final Acceptance
The Editor verifies the implementation of the requested revisions. Should any disputes arise, an additional review may be requested. Once all revisions are approved, the corresponding author is formally notified of the manuscript’s acceptance and receives the copyright transfer agreement, which must be signed and returned within seven business days.
Publication Process
Upon receipt of the signed copyright transfer agreement, the manuscript enters the editorial design and layout stage. The editorial team will inform the corresponding author of the scheduled publication date.
Any situations not expressly addressed in these guidelines will be examined and resolved by the Editorial Committee in accordance with the journal’s established editorial principles and policies.
